Square Group is not just a successful company, it is a symbol of achievement. The journey of the company has been tough but it managed to sail through and have made it to the list of top companies of Bangladesh. Square Pharmaceuticals, which is the flagship company of the conglomerate is the leader among the pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh and is currently gaining popularity across the globe.

The company was founded by Samson H Chowdhury, one of the most prominent businessmen of Bangladesh in the year 1958. The company was named as Square because it was founded by Chowdhury and his three friends, and also because a square signifies perfection and quality.

Square Group has consistently been at the top position since 1985 and has worked hard to achieve all the success which has come its way so far. The company was turned into a public limited company in the year 1991. The total turnover of the company was more than $163 million in the year 2010 with a steady year on year growth of 16.72%.

The leadership of the company is hardworking and dynamic and has been successfully leading the company towards various achievements in diverse industries. It has expanded its services across the globe and has made a big name for itself. The company started exporting medicines in 1987. It is still exporting various pharmaceutical products, antibiotics, dairy products and cosmetics to many countries across the globe. Square Group has various other enterprises as well and they are as diverse as spinning and textiles, toiletries, fashion, fabrics, hospitals.

Square Group aims towards providing the best possible compensation to all the people working with the company through a package consisting of basic salary, bonus, allowances, leave salary and various retirement benefits. Square is a company which strives for maintaining the best quality in all its products and also aims it infiltrating the lower economic class in Bangladesh. It is bound with social obligations and has strong desire to give back to the society.

The formally known ‘State Bank of Pakistan’ was renamed as ‘Bangladesh Bank’ right after Bangladesh’s independence. The Bangladesh Bank automatically became official foreign exchange reserve institute. It was too accountable for currency control, monitoring exchange and credit control.
